Airport road reopened after abductees’ families warned of permanent cut-off

The airport road was reopened in both directions after families of the Lebanese pilgrims abducted in Syria held a peaceful protest and cut off the road for the second time on Thursday afternoon to condemn the lack of progress in the case of the 11 Lebanese abductees. They had stressed that the protest would only last for two hours.    

Protesters on Beirut International Road said that they have the right to cut off the road, hoping to maneuver the government’s efforts regarding the 11 detainees.
They added that it has been 3 weeks since the abduction took place, and still no information has been released regarding the whereabouts of their loved ones              
They said they blamed the Turkish authorities, adding that they have no fear of Syrian authorities as well.              

They demanded verification that their loved ones were still alive, warning that they would otherwise escalate their protest.              

The protesters previously cut off the same road for one hour, today's lasted for almost two, with the protestors insisting that it will last indefinitely if the government does not react.              

Finally, they hinted that they will soon be heading to the Turkish embassy and will completely cut off the airport road in case they get no real reassurances on the abductees.
