Security apparatuses await sim card information to press ahead with Harb case

Security apparatuses are still waiting to receive the sim card information after finding important leads in the attempted assassination of MP Boutros Harb.

Meanwhile, the case was marked with an important development which lies in Interior Minister Marwan Charbel’s signing of a draft law to give the control room access to the telecom data without resorting to the ministry of telecommunications or the concerned judicial body.

The control room’s activities are linked to the interior ministry by virtue of Law 140. However, this law and its implementation decrees are now considered “outdated” in light of recent technical developments and flaws in the legal text.

In this context, former Interior Minister Ziad Baroud highlighted the need to overhaul the law to avoid ambiguity.
