Mikati calls for steering Lebanon clear off tensions

PM Najib Mikati confirmed on Friday that current efforts focus on restoring calm and steering Lebanon clear off further tension and threats.

During his visit to the Mufti of Tripoli and the North, Sheikh Malek Shaar, on the occasion of Ramadan, Mikati pointed out that certain parties are taking actions that neither serve the country’s fundamental goal nor boost the role of its institutions.

Mikati confirmed that such activities do not dovetail with the current phase’s requirements and do not serve Lebanon in this “stormy” atmosphere.

Commenting on the Syrian issue, Mikati said that the events in Syria will have repercussions on Lebanon, calling for calm and self-restraint.
