EDL directors leave their offices after receiving threats
Electricité du Liban (EDL) announced on Tuesday that, for the second day in a row, some contract workers “stormed into” the office of the head of the EDL’s Financial Affairs Directorate Mona Issa, yelling and calling for the disclosure of the days deducted from the attendance sheets of the administrative workers who have stopped working semi-permanently since the beginning of the sit-in. The financial director had to leave her office waiting for security to be restored. It is noteworthy that one of the workers also threatened her nearly a month ago.

Later on Tuesday, EDL employees announced that they will be holding a strike on Wednesday in solidarity with the head of the EDL’s Financial Affairs Directorate Mona Issa.

The EDL general observer had also left the institution accompanied by security guards after protestors threatened him at his office; he has not returned until now.

The institution announced that this issue has been referred to the EDL’s concerned department so it can take the necessary measures. The institution’s directors called for holding an emergency meeting with the institution’s CEO to discuss the dangerous situation in the institution and take the appropriate decision to protect the dignity of both directors and workers and to prevent the situation from spinning out of control.
