A mother and her 6 children shot dead in Basta

Ula Nawal Younes and her six children, Hadi, Amin, Manal, Zahraa, Zaher and Maha, were found dead in their home on Omar Bin Al-Khattab Street in the Basta region on Sunday night, killed by shotgun blasts.

The father, Ali Amin El Hajj Dib, said that he returned from his hometown Armata in Jezzin, where he was visiting his parents, to find his wife and six children dead. LBC TV station reported that the seven bodies were all shot in the head, adding that the father is under investigation.

The Head of Beirut police department Ahmad Hanini rushed to the crime scene to examine the evidence.

Sources told LBC that the eldest brother killed the six members of his family before turning the gun on himself, adding that his body was found in another room next to the pump action shotgun used in the murders.
