Defense Minister Elias Bou Saab commented Tuesday on the decision to lift the travel ban imposed on Emirati citizens to Lebanon, noting that this measure will facilitate the UAE investment in Lebanon and boost confidence in Lebanon’s security, economy and banking sector.
He noted that Prime Minister Saad Hariri has asked Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed to lift the ban, adding that UAE ambassador to Lebanon Hamad al-Shamsi and Lebanon’s ambassador to Abu Dhabi also played a role in this regard.
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Bou Saab pointed out that a serious project is being prepared and started with the travel ban lift, adding that the details will be unveiled by PM Hariri.
On the arrest of Kanaan Naji in the case of Tripoli terrorist Abdel Rahman Mabsout, Bou Saab said that “he would not have been charged had it not been for the facts present,” stressing that they will wait for the results of the investigations and the judiciary will take its course to reveal the truth.
