Lebanese sees her mother’s body on TV among Daraya massacre victims

A 23-year-old Lebanese from Kherbet al Sellom in south Lebanon accidentally saw the body of her 49-year-old mother Siham Salloum on the Syrian ad-Dunya TV among the victims of the massacre of Daraya in Damascus Reef.

Manal, a translator for the UNIFIL, said that when she came closer to the TV, she saw an enlarged image of her mother’s face and recognized her instantly from her face, veil and clothes.

Siham Salloum divorced Hassan Cherri with whom she had 3 children and married a Palestinian national. During the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah in south Lebanon, she decided to leave Lebanon and headed to the Syrian town of Daraya where she settled with her new husband.

Over 330 bodies were found on August 25 and 26 in the town of Daraya near Damascus, according to a Syrian non-governmental organization.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian regime and the opposition had traded accusations over this massacre.
