Maronite Bishops: we hope that the Pope’s visit to Lebanon reinforces coexistence

Following their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Maronite Bishops described the upcoming visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon as historic, calling for intensive participation in celebrations that will take place to receive him and during Holy Mass which will take place in the country’s capital Beirut.

The Maronite bishops expressed their wishes that this visit will reinforce the notion of Lebanese coexistence and dialogue between religious sects as well as acting as a gateway for peace in the country and in various regions.

The Bishops also hoped that the Papal visit will highlight Christian presence in the Middle East.
