Parliament passes electricity law and fuel subsidy

The parliament has passed the electricity law and public transport fuel subsidy for a 3-month period, during the legislative session called to convene by Speaker Nabih Berri.

The electricity law was passed as agreed upon Wednesday by the parliament’s joint committees.

Berri met with Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun in his office in the parliament before the Thursday session.

Change and Reform bloc MP Simon Abi Ramia told LBC that his bloc’s goal is to provide electricity for the Lebanese without violating the constitutional prerogatives of Energy Minister Jibran Bassil.
