Nahas: No attempt to amend STL-Lebanon protocol
Economy Minister Nicolas Nahas denied Wednesday that he holds information on any attempt to amend the protocol signed between Lebanon and STL, calling on the political figures to stem political debates over funding the STL. Nahas elaborated: “Each party has stated its point of view and now it is time for the cabinet to decide on the issue.”

Commenting on the Change and Reform bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun opposition to the STL funding, Nahas told Voice of Lebanon that “a position taken by one party in the cabinet does not reflect the position of the entire cabinet,” stressing that the cabinet’s decision is only expressed by the ministers as well as the prime minister and president who had both confirmed Lebanon’s commitment to international resolutions.

Nahas added that “when things will reach the boiling point, everyone will be aware that Lebanon has no interest in engaging in confrontation with the international community.”

In his concluding remarks, Nahas reassured the Lebanese that the international community fully trust the Lebanese economy, adding that the warning issued by the U.S did not target Lebanon in particular, rather all countries, including Turkey and the U.A.E.
