BDL Governor responds to ongoing campaigns against him

Governor of Banque du Liban Riad Salameh issued a statement on Wednesday, in which he clarified that the ongoing campaigns against his person revolved around some operations that took place in the Banque du Liban during his mandate on one hand, and around his personal wealth on the other.

He said: "Following this situation, I asked a well-known and first-class audit office to scrutinize the operations and investments that were the subject of successive media speculation."

"The audit office carried out its mission in accordance with international standards," he added.

In his statement, Salameh indicated the findings of the audit office, "which are based on the facts that were reviewed during the work that it carried out."
