Architect William Sawaya awarded Knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy

Ambassador Nicoletta Bombardiere bestowed on Wednesday at the premises of the Embassy of Italy in Beirut, the knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy upon Italian and Lebanese architect William Sawaya for his very important contribution to cultural, artistic and economic ties between Lebanon and Italy.

A statement issued by the embassy said that architect Sawaya has contributed, since the mid-70s and for over forty years of activity, to the International success of the important Milanese design studio Sawaya e Moroni, decisively strengthening the synergies between the Italian and Lebanese schools of design, and becoming a point of reference for contemporary design and architecture in Europe and around the world.
