Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Rai stressed on Saturday during Christmas mass in Bkerke in the presence of President Michel Aoun that “our thoughts today go to our dear families of Beirut Port blast victims” as well as to the Lebanese who suffer from poverty, hunger and deprivation of the most basic necessities of life.

“Officials are obstructing the progress of the state,” Rai pointed out.

He stated that they support President Aoun, and so that Lebanon restores its balance and its position in the Arab world and among nations.”

He then called on the government not to submit to political tyranny at the expense of constitutional will, stressing that “it is its duty to resume its sessions.”
