Prime Minister Najib Mikati presided on Monday over a meeting at the Grand Serail, in the presence of Minister of Labor Moustafa Bayram, Head of General Labor Confederation (GLC) Bechara al-Asmar, GLC Vice-President Hassan Fakih, and GLC Secretary-General Saad Eddin Hamidi Sakr.
Following the meeting, al-Asmar indicated that "our visit today touched on many matters, and we expressed our gratitude regarding the decree that gave the military a transport allowance of 1,200,000 LBP, in which the General Labor Confederation had a tireless pursuit.
The delegation then discussed the resumption of work in the Index Committee, in order to reach a conclusion regarding the private sector.
Finally, in response to a question about the short period of time separating us from the scheduled strike, al-Asmar said: "We will consult tonight and tomorrow about a specific solution that guarantees the rights of public drivers, especially after it was agreed with PM Mikati on some broad lines that we will convey and hopefully we will reach a result."
