The Federation of Bakeries and Ovens Syndicates warns of new bread crisis

The Federation of Bakeries and Ovens Syndicates in Lebanon announced on Wednesday that “the sector of bakeries and ovens has been suffering for days from a severe shortage of flour deliveries by mills for the bread-making industry for several reasons, including the Banque du Liban’s delay in paying for the imported wheat, and the accumulation of bran in warehouses."

The union issued a statement urging the concerned officials to work fast to develop appropriate solutions to avoid a loaf crisis, especially because flour deliveries to bakeries barely match the daily need for loaf manufacturing.

He emphasized that the bakeries will continue to operate until they run out of flour, urging those responsible to take action before it is too late.
