Habib to LBCI: The issue of the Syrian refugees is one of ethics

In an interview with LBCI’s TV Show Nharkom Said MP Khoder Habib criticized Energy Minister Gebran Bassil’s position when he requested during Wednesday’s cabinet session the closure of the crossings on the borders with Syria to stop the flow of Syrian refugees to Lebanon. He stressed that the refugees’ issue is one of ethics.

Habib added that the Syrians who are currently staying in the northern region of Akkar live in miserable conditions, urging the Higher Relief Commission to provide them with the necessary provisions.

Habib also revealed that the humanitarian aid the Future Movement is providing to these refugees is financed by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.

The Lebanese MP emphasized that the Lebanese government is responsible for helping the Syrians after the Syrian people helped the Lebanese during the Israeli onslaught against Lebanon in 2006.
