Brahimi arrives in Syria, to meet President Assad on Monday

International peace envoy Lakhdar Brahimi arrived in Syria on Sunday afternoon from Lebanon.

Brahimi is expected to meet with various Syrian officials as well as the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a day later.

Earlier, Brahimi arrived to Beirut’s International Airport whereby he was welcomed at the VIP lounge by U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly amid tight security measures. Photographers and media figures were not allowed to carry out their journalistic duty.
