Minister Charbel did not pledge to release Islamist inmates

Commenting on what the spokesman of the families of the Lebanese nationals who died in Syria's Talkalakh Mohammed Ibrahim said during a sit-in on Friday, the Ministry of Interior said that Minister Marwan Charbel did not pledge to release the Islamist inmates in Roumieh prison.

The ministry added that this issue is related to the Justice Ministry and pointed out that Minister Charbel vowed that the construction of the prosecution chamber in Roumieh prison would be finished before the end of this year.

"Minister Charbel is working within his capabilities in coordination with the Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi to speed up the trials," the Ministry concluded.
