Salam calls on the World Bank and the IMF to continue their support
Caretaker Economy Minister Amin Salam headed the Lebanese delegation participating in the Arab Ministerial Meeting of the Governors of the Middle East and North Africa region at the World Bank, which was held in US Washington, at the headquarters of the World Bank Group, in the presence of Bank President David Malpass.

Salam welcomed on Thursday "the World Bank's continued support for Lebanon and the Lebanese in light of this difficult stage the country is going through," praising the efforts and support of President of the World Bank David Malpass for Lebanon, especially in the food security issue through the emergency wheat loan, in addition to allocating a new program for food security, and to developing network programs Social safety, and Lebanon's support with COVID-19 vaccines, which are still available.

Regarding global policy priorities for the coming period, Salam confirmed that “Lebanon, in these difficult circumstances, continues to support international efforts to restore global peace and stability and alleviate human suffering, including on the issue of displaced Syrians,” noting that “Lebanon is still the country that hosts the largest number of refugees.

Furthermore, he went on to explain that Lebanon expects economic growth and recovery in the next three years in the sectors of food industries, digital services, tourism and oil services, provided that this is accompanied by structural reforms within the framework of the economic and financial reforms workshop that Lebanon is working on.”

“Lebanon is committed to implementing the required reforms as well as the recovery plan to maintain monetary and financial stability,” Salam indicated.
