REPORT: Electricity failures caused by the storm depend on contractors' strike

The committee of the EDL contract workers and bill collectors declared the suspension of its movement previously scheduled for Wednesday, after receiving promises from the Labor Minister Salim Jreissati, while the Syndicate of EDL workers and employees held a press conference where they declared that they will continue their strike.

In this context, the Syndicate apologized to the Lebanese citizens for refusing to carry out necessary maintenance works.

Meanwhile, the EDL Company issued a statement whereby it called on the employees to repair the important malfunctions, and to continue their maintenance works inside the power plants, due to the increase of crashes during the storm and the power shortage in a number of regions.

The company noted that it understands the demands of the employees, stressing that the most affected party by the strike is the citizens who are living without power.
