Bassil: Era of lost opportunities is over

Energy Minister Gebran Bassil held a press conference on Friday to launch a round for companies wanting to pre-qualify for oil and gas exploration drilling in Lebanon.

In this context, Bassil revealed that Lebanon "achieved in record time what other countries couldn’t achieve using sophisticated equipment in years."

Bassil added that the era of lost opportunities and wasting resources is over, stressing that "Lebanon will witness prosperity".

The minister urged the Lebanese to project trust to the International Community and the investing companies and show them that corruption is eliminated in the Lebanese state.

Bassil promised that Lebanon will be able to cover its debts without any outside help, emphasizing that the oil and gas exploration will ensure stability in the country.

He also announced that the exploration process will start by the end of 2015.
