Sleiman calls for dialogue in countries witnessing unrest

President Michel Sleiman, who is currently visiting African countries, appealed on Wednesday for dialogue in nations witnessing unrest, stressing that violence does not lead to any solution.                   

Following his meeting with Arab ambassadors in Senegal, Sleiman said that Lebanon does not back any form of violence, hoping that unrest would be solved by "talks held between all parties".
                          
Sleiman reiterated his call for dialogue between the Syrian President Bashar Assad and the opposition to stop the bloodshed in Syria.                      

“Lebanon has been suffering from housing thousands of displaced Syrians which exceed its material, human and geographic capabilities,” said the president, who arrived in Senegal with First Lady Wafaa on Tuesday after paying a short a visit to Algeria.                   

Sleiman called on the Arabs to remain united, mainly in Africa, to face "the countless attempts of the 'Zionist entity' to overtake the role of the Lebanese and Arabs played in the region".                

Sleiman held talks with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika  during his short visit to Algiers in which he stressed Lebanon's readiness to benefit from Algeria’s expertise in oil management.                  

It is worth mentioning that President Sleiman's African tour is the first for the Lebanese president and aims to strengthen the relations between Lebanon and the African continent.
