REPORT: Protesters suffer unemployment due to huge numbers of Syrian refugees

As the number of Syrian refugees is skyrocketing, mainly those who stream to north Lebanon, the job opportunities are sharply reduced in the regions that shelter the displaced Syrians.

In this context, a number of protesters cut-off early on Monday the international road linking Tripoli to Akkar with burning tires in protest of the unemployment they are suffering due to the huge number of Syrian labor force.

The protesters stressed that "the displaced Syrians are granted medical treatments" while the Lebanese citizens are dying and deprived of their basic rights, calling on the Lebanese state to take the necessary measures in this regard.

It is worth noting that the demonstration caused a severe traffic jam on the international road, leading a number of schools and institutions to close their doors.
