Lebanon's Telecommunications Minister urges Lebanese tech expats to return home

Lebanese Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj called on expatriates working in the digital economy to return to Lebanon, emphasizing the country's potential to become a regional hub for innovation.

Highlighting Lebanon's strategic location and highly skilled workforce, Hajj said the nation is poised for "the best roles" in the global market, especially under a new political era, a government committed to structural reforms, and ongoing efforts by his ministry to modernize and expand infrastructure.

"Come back to Lebanon," Hajj urged, addressing Lebanese expatriates directly. "Soon, the country will be ready to welcome you and embrace your ideas and projects in the digital economy, giving you a strong launch pad to the Arab region and the world."

Hajj stressed the importance of broadband internet in driving economic growth, citing global studies showing that every 10% increase in broadband penetration results in a 1.3% rise in GDP.

He revealed that more than half of the country's mobile networks will be expanded soon, promising improved services for subscribers. He also announced new data and call packages, adding that once the network's readiness is ensured, better offers will be introduced to encourage people to make more regular calls.
