REPORT: Charbel receives names of female prisoners to be exchanged with Aazaz hostages

                
The General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim returned on Monday from Turkey as he wrapped up his 24-hour visit, carrying a list that included the names of 371 female prisoners detained in Syria.      

In this context, Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel received the list, and told LBCI that the negotiations will kick off between the Lebanese State and Syria in a bid to exchange the aforementioned prisoners with the Lebanese hostages in Aazaz.       

It is worth noting that the negotiations are held under the mediation of Ibrahim and may include Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour and other high-ranking officials.         

The families of the Lebanese hostages in Aazaz welcomed this step but refused to backtrack on their movements, noting that they will stage another sit-in near the Turkish offices on Tuesday to call on Mansour to travel to Syria to follow up on this file.            

Eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 22nd of May. Only two have so far been released.                 

Their families have vowed to continue their movements until all their loved ones have returned home safe and sound.                        

They accuse Ankara of sponsoring the kidnapping and the Lebanese government of inaptness in this regard.
