US and Lebanese navies complete ‘Resolute Union 26’ maritime exercise

The U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and the Lebanese Armed Forces - Navy (LAF-N) wrapped up a weeklong maritime exercise, “Resolute Union 26,” on Thursday, the U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

The bilateral exercise, which also involved the U.S. Army and Coast Guard, focused on maritime security operations, including visit, board, search, and seizure, as well as explosive ordnance disposal and diving.

“Resolute Union 26 allowed us to exchange knowledge, build capacity, and strengthen interoperability with our LAF-N partners,” said the commander of NAVCENT’s Task Force 56, Capt. Brian Reitter.

“Training together across multiple mission sets enhances teamwork and our combined maritime security capabilities.”

The biennial exercise, last held in July 2023 in Lebanon, provides a continuing opportunity to deepen cooperation and mutual understanding between the U.S. and Lebanese forces.
