Bassil: Citizens to be provided with 24-hour supply of electricity

Caretaker Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil stressed on Wednesday that the Free Patriotic Movement “is seeking to restore the rights of all the Lebanese people” by calling for the adoption of the Orthodox Gathering's draft law.

In this context, Bassil called on everyone who opposes the aforementioned law to suggest another, pointing out that “the agreement with the Lebanese Forces bloc was not directed against Hezbollah”.

On another note, the Minister said during a press conference that the Lebanese State did not rent the Turkish powership Fatmagul Sultan but pays however the price of electricity it generates, stressing that the powership shoulders the malfunctions not the ‘Lebanese side’.

Separately, Bassil said that the failure to extract oil during the last 50 years was due to external obstacles, confirming that the Lebanese citizens will be provided with 24-hour supply of electricity as of 2015.
