Mikati launches series of contacts with political leaders, meets with various officials

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miktai launched Friday various contacts with Lebanese leaders in the framework of an initiative to end the political crisis.      

In this regard, Caretaker Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas, and Dr. Khaldoun Sharif briefed PM Mikati on the discussions they held with President Michel Sleiman and the latter’s view point regarding the current political situation.            

Mikati also met with Caretaker Labor Minister Salim Jreissati who said following the meeting that discussions were related to the political situation, the extension of the parliament’s mandate, and the governmental file.           

Among Mikati’s visitors were also the British ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher, and the governor of Banque Du Liban Riad Salameh.        

Mikati’s proposed an initiative on Wednesday May 29, calling on President Michel Sleiman to hold national dialogue in which all political parties participate without setting preconditions, and present concessions for the benefit of Lebanon's national interest.]
