Results of New 7 Wonders of Nature announced, Jeita Grotto not included
Dr Nabil Haddad, managing director of MAPAS, the firm in charge of the Jeita Grotto’s operations, announced that the grotto did not make the list of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, nor did any other Arab site.    

Haddad announced that the sites that made the list are the following: AMAZON, HALONG BAY, IGUAZU FALLS, JEJU ISLAND, KOMODO, PUERTO PRINCESA, UNDERGROUND RIVER, and TABLE MOUNTAIN.    

The organizers of the New 7 Wonders of Nature had confirmed that Jeita Grotto is among the first 14 sites, adding that the final results would be announced at 9 pm, local time.    

Voting for Jeita Grotto as one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature ended at 1 p.m. and 11 minutes today.      

The organizers of the New 7 Wonders of Nature competition warned of excluding Jeita Grotto from the competition after Lebanese mobile provider “MTC Touch” sent 10,000 text messages (sms) to support the Grotto.  But MTC quickly agreed to withdraw all 100,000 votes in order to keep Jeita Grotto in the competition.
