President of the Administration and Justice Committee Robert Ghanem said that the committee continued its inquiry into the dire situation in Lebanese prisons, adding that the committee made final changes to a bill that proposes the reduction of sentence time for accused criminals.
“As soon as the Administration and justice Committee received the needed statistics, it started looking into solutions for the difficulties facing inmates”, Ghanem said.
Ghanem added that these problems are the result of years of neglect and cannot be resolved “with the push of a button”.
Ghanem said that the committee urged the Lebanese courts to take prompt action and settle the cases without delay.
