Thousands of Pakistanis protest against corruption and demand president’s departure

More than 30,000 Pakistanis from the country’s major opposition party took to the street in a protest rally on Friday as they set a puppet of the president Asif Ali Zardari on fire and demanded his departure.

The party’s partisans condemned corruption and power outages all across the country, calling on the president to resign before the end of the government’s 5-year authorization in 2013.

Moreover, around 2000 Pakistani citizens protested outside the Parliament and called for putting an end to the U.S. drones attacks that “are killing more civilians than Taliban and Qaeda leaders”.
