More than a thousand Syrian expatriates living in Jordan gathered outside the Syrian Embassy in Amman on Sunday for prayers to mark Eid al-Adha, or the "Feast of the Sacrifice".      

Eid is the one of the biggest events in the Muslim calendar. The festival of sacrifice marks Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his own son as an act of obedience to God.      

The celebrations were also an occasion for the expatriates to express their opposition to the Syrian regime.       

They chanted slogans calling for Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down.
