UAE's FM visits Syria's al-Assad, stresses on 'brotherly relations'
Syria's President Bashar al-Assad welcomed His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, and his accompanying delegation. 

The two discussed the "distinguished fraternal relations that unite Syria and the Emirates and the existing cooperation between them in many fields," according to a statement issued by the Syrian Presidency. 

Al-Assad and Al-Nahyan discussed ways to develop economic and trade relations for the benefit of "the two brotherly countries and peoples and the developments in the regional and international situation." 

Al-Assad stressed that the relations between Syria and the UAE are historical.

He added that it is natural for their relation to return to its depth, which they have been characterized for decades, to serve the interests of the two countries and the two peoples. 

Al-Assad stressed that the [good] relationship is in the interest of regional issues and the establishment of stability in the region, pointing to the importance of the UAE and the positive role it plays in the Arab region.

The guest minister conveyed to al-Assad the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice President of the State, and stressed that the UAE is keen to enhance cooperation between the two countries and expand its horizons, and to continue consultation and coordination with Syria on various issues.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed affirmed his country's support for Syria's stability and sovereignty over all its lands, expressing the UAE's confidence that the Syrian people can restore their country to its renaissance, development, and prosperity.
