REPORT: Ambassador denies detaining Lebanese nationals in Indonesia

A delegation from the northern city of Tripoli headed to the Indonesian embassy in order to follow up on the case of the Indonesian boat tragedy. The delegation received support and conformation that the Indonesian authorities have been cooperating with the Chargé d’Affaires at the Lebanese Embassy in Jakarta Joanna Azzi, who allowed the concerned parties to carry out DNA tests on the victims’ corpses.

However, the Indonesian ambassador to Lebanon Dimas Samodra denied reports stating that “his country is keeping Lebanese detainees on its soil”, stressing that the disaster’s survivors will return to Lebanon as soon as the necessary measures end.
