REPORT: Bassil says from Egypt that Lebanon has the right to recover its lands, resist Israeli aggression
Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed Sunday that Lebanon has the right to recover its lands and resist any Israeli aggression.

In a speech he delivered during the Arab Foreign Ministers Conference held in Cairo, Bassil expressed fear that Lebanon would become a crossing point to transport Jihad west and east.

He noted that the only solution for Lebanon lies in arming the Lebanese Armed Forces, hoping that the Rome conference to support the army will be an occasion for Lebanon to receive new Arab support.

On another note, Bassil said that the issue of the refugees is an existential issue for Lebanon, pointing out that the country hosts 45% of the Syrian refugees, while its governmental institutions have not received any international support.

“The policy of open doors can no longer be adopted,” he said, stressing the need to equally distribute the refugees among the neighboring Arab countries and inside the safe Syrian territories.
