REPORT: Minister Abou Faour: Prices of around 261 medications to be reduced by 17%
Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour announced on Thursday the reduction in prices of approximately 261 medications by 17%.

“This new decision comes in line with a general policy followed by the Progressive Socialist Party in all relevant ministries,” he said.

Abou Faour also warned against the failure to implement the decision or rejecting it, stressing that the decision will come into effect upon release in the Official Gazette.

Similarly, Abou Faour declared last month a 20% reduction of the price of 629 types of medications, calling on the importers to begin making changes to drug rates so that the reduced prices would become effective as of April 15th and stressing that this process will be conducted under the supervision of the ministry.

In this regard, Abou Faour noted that the medications that will be included in this price reduction concern ailments related to the digestive system, diabetes, diseases affecting the heart, blood, arteries, skin and the reproductive system, as well as hormonal issues, antibiotics and 64 types of cancer drugs.
