REPORT: Wife of kidnapped soldier Abbas Msheik gives birth to baby boy

Three months after her husband was abducted by Islamist armed men, a Lebanese woman has given birth to a baby boy.

Zahraa Msheik, whose husband Abbas is among the 27 hostages held by the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State as hostages, delivered a baby boy on Tuesday at the Dar al-Amal Hospital in Baalbek.

Zahraa, mother of 7-year-old Fatma and 5-year-old Ali, named her newly born son Mohammad.

Msheik had been pregnant for almost six months when the Lebanese Armed Forces clashed in the northeastern region of Arsal, where soldiers thwarted an attempt by militants to control the border town in August.

Abbas Msheik was abducted along with more than 30 soldiers and other policemen and taken to the outskirts of Arsal, where the al-Nusra Front and IS are deployed along the border between Lebanon and Syria.

Msheik's family and friends have been protesting outside the Grand Serail for over a month in an attempt to pressure the Lebanese government, and one of his family members has said that the policeman suffers from liver problems and needs urgent medical treatment.
