Health Minister Wael Abou Faour held Thursday a joint press conference with Agriculture Minister Akram Chouhayeb, where he said that the food safety campaign is not just a brief revolution, but will continue until reaching the required objectives.
He added that the campaign will move to a new level through the Agriculture Ministry, stressing that "the state’s authority cannot be undermined and greed cannot be allowed."
In this context, Abou Faour sent warnings to two wheat mills, Al-Taj mills in Jisr al-Wati and al-Dora mills for not meeting the required conditions.
However, the health minister requested the temporary closure of Bakalian Mills SIDuL, in the Mdawar region in Karantina, al-Baraka Mills in Nahr al-Mot and Modern Mills of Lebanon in Ashrafieh.
For his part, Minister Chouhayeb declared that a meeting will be held next Monday with Ministers of Industry Hussein al-Hajj Hassan and of Economy Alain Hakim, in order to standardize the price of milk at 1,100 LBP.
He added that he gave the violating factories of sesame paste (Tahini) and Halawa a deadline until the 31st of December to improve their situations, pointing out that samples from 100 chicken farms have been taken, and the results are due within 6 to 7 weeks.
