REPORT: Cabinet approves nomination of a number of ambassadors to Lebanon

The Lebanese cabinet convened on Thursday in a session under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam at the Grand Serail.

The Cabinet approved the transfer of funds for several projects and the nomination of a number of new ambassadors to Lebanon namely for France, Turkey, Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Chad, Kazakhstan, Noway and Ghana.

Following the session, Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi said that almost all agenda items have been approved, with only a few issues postponed to another session.

He also said that the Cabinet approved the Finance Ministry’s request to transfer certain funds to ministries and other state institutions.

Prior to the session, Environment Minister Mohammad al-Mashnouq stressed that “the Prime Minister is the only one authorized to decide when the issue of Arsal would be tackled,” noting that this matter is not forgotten, but under continuous discussions during meetings held by the latter.

For his part, Youth and Sports Minister Abdel Muttaleb al-Hennawi stressed that no party should impose on PM Salam an issue to be discussed, pointing out that the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwaji said that the situation in Arsal is currently under control.
