REPORT: Families of abducted soldiers fail to meet their loved ones

The families of soldiers abducted by members of the Islamic State were unable to meet their loved ones on Tuesday in the mountainous region of the northeaster border town of Arsal.

In a similar incident, the relatives were expected to meet with the abductees on Saturday; however, their efforts were not fruitful.

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal last August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.

Four captives have so far been executed, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.
