REPORT: FPM leader Bassil joins Gemayel-Rai meeting in Bkerke
A meeting was held on Friday in Bkerke between Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai, Free Patriotic Movement leader Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and Kataeb party leader MP Sami Gemayel.

Gemayel had first arrived in Bkerke along with Kataeb's former minister Salim al-Sayegh. Bassil joined the talks around an hour later.

Following the meeting, Gemayel noted that the Kataeb party does not have complexes towards any political figure, adding that the party has national constants.

“We do not seek to put a veto on any presidential candidate who meets with us on these national constants,” he added.

He also noted that the party wants to know if Marada Movement leader MP Sleiman Franjieh wants to meet them halfway.

The talks come one day after a meeting in Bkerke between Rai and MP Franjieh.

Franjieh's chances to reach the Baabda Palace have recently emerged in the wake of a Paris meeting between him and the Future movement leader former Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum after the mandate of president Michel Sleiman ended in May 25 with rival political blocs still divided over a successor.
