• UN envoy Brahimi: Syrian disputed parties will attend Geneva 2 conference without prior conditions

Arab League-United Nations envoy Lakhdar Brahimi told An-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday that the interim Syrian government will be discussed in Geneva 2 conference set to be held on January 22, 2014.

The envoy noted that the Syrian disputed parties agreed on attending the conference without setting prior conditions.

• Five Palestinian persons smuggled into Syria to fight along rebels -sources

Sources told As-Safir newspaper on Tuesday that the Lebanese authorities and some Palestinian factions in refugees camp in Tyre detected 5 persons who smuggled into Syria to fight along the rebels.

Sources added that the said 5 persons belong to well known Palestinian families.

• Caretaker Minister Charbel: Investigations in Iranian embassy twin blasts are ongoing

Caretaker Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel told An-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday that the investigation in the Iranian embassy twin blasts is ongoing.

He added that the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Internal Security Forces information Bureau are collaborating in order to reveal the perpetrators of the attack.

According to the Daily, Charbel noted that the Iranian authorities are deploying efforts to assist the Lebanese authorities in the investigations.

• Al-Qaeda to launch further attacks in Lebanon-sources

Sources told Al-Joumhouria newspaper on Tuesday that the Abdullah Azzam brigades claiming responsibility for the double suicide attack on the Iranian embassy paved the way for other Salafist groups to launch attacks in Lebanon.

Sources added that the al-Qaeda threatened the Lebanese state and people to launch attacks in Lebanon on the backdrop of Hezbollah military intervention in Syria.
