Prime Minister Tammam Salam told As-Safir newspaper on Monday that he "is contented" with the deliberations taking place to draft the policy statement.
Salam noted that the policy statement of the new government may be announced on Monday after overcoming reservations linked to the role of the resistance.
He also noted that the new cabinet must address several security and economic challenges, as well as the holding of the presidential elections.
Sources told As-Safir newspaper on Monday that Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil submitted a draft of the policy statement but was rejected by March 14 camp.
Same sources added that Speaker Nabih Berri amended the suggested draft policy to be "acceptable" by all sides.
According to the Daily, the sources concluded by saying that the majority of obstacles have been overcome, but the “army-people-resistance” formula remained a point of argument.
Minister of Labor Sejaan Azzi told An-Nahar newspaper on Monday that the policy statement may be announced on Monday.
Azzi noted that the statement will not include "concessions and formulas on the expenses of the Lebanese state."
Sources told al-Akhbar newspaper on Monday that the Internal Security Forces Information Bureau "is adamant" on addressing al-Qaeda linked terrorism.
Sources added that such decision came under a Saudi-Hariri cover with the cooperation of the Lebanese Armed Forces and Hezbollah.
According to the Daily, Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq urged all security apparatuses to arrest all persons that are cooperating with the terrorist groups in direct or indirect ways.
