State Minister for Administrative Development Affairs Nabil De Freij stated on Saturday that one conflicting item on the agenda of the cabinet may not disrupt the work of the entire institution.
In this regard, Minister De Freij told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that what happened during the last cabinet session is disappointing, stressing that the dossier of solid wastes’ management is very important.
He also stated that ending the cabinet session without reaching a solution for the said dossier proves that the methodology adopted is slowing the work of the cabinet.
Deputy Ibrahim Kanaan stated on Saturday that preparations are ongoing to hold a meeting between Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun and Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea.
In this regard, MP Kanaan told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that a framework will be set for the first stage of negotiations; however, emphasized that a date for this dialogue has not been scheduled yet.
Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi told As-Safir newspaper on Saturday that he contacted Prime Minister Tammam Salam and Environment Minister Mouhammad Mashnouq to reach a solution for the dossier of solid wastes’ management.
In this regard, Minister Azzi stated that the upcoming hours should hold some positive indications regarding consensus over the said dossier, adding that he will hold talks with various officials to tackle the same matter.
Social Affairs Ministrer Rachid Derbass stated on Saturday that “those hindering the election of a new president are also obstructing the work of the cabinet.”
In this regard, Minister Derbass told the Kuwaiti newspaper As-Seyassah that he will not attend any cabinet session aimed at discussing the dossier of solid wastes management, voicing his astonishment over the latest stance delivered by Kataeb minister regarding the said dossier.
