Change and Reform Bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan stated on Tuesday that the unity of the Christian forces has become essential in light of the current circumstances, pointing out that a solution is needed for more than one dossier; mainly that of the presidential elections.
MP Kanaan told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that internal and foreign forces have voiced their support for dialogue between Lebanese factions, adding that the Christian-Christian dialogue has garnered great support from Lebanese politicians.
A military source reported to Al-Joumhouria newspaper on Tuesday that security forces haven’t yet been able to specify the location of fugitive Chady Al-Mawlawi; however, emphasized that the latter is highly unlikely to be found in the northeastern border town of Arsal.
“Al-Mawlawi’s entry to Arsal is impossible knowing that army checkpoints are set on all entrances of the town,” the source said.
The source also noted that raid operations are ongoing in the Bekaa and North Lebanon to arrest a number of fugitives including Al-Mawlai, adding that Al-Mawlawi may have headed to the North or stayed at the Ain El-Helwe refugee camp.
An-Nahar newspaper reported on Tuesday that the fourth dialogue session between the Future Movement and Hezbollah tackled the security situation in Lebanon as well as the necessary means to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and Internal Security Forces.
The newspaper noted that officials from both parties highlighted the importance of assisting security forces in a bid to contain the security situation in Lebanon.
An-Nahar daily also stated that officials tackled initiatives that aim at easing sectarian tension in Lebanon.
Deputy Robert Ghanem stated on Tuesday that there aren't any updates pertaining to the work of the parliamentary committee tasked with discussing the electoral law.
In this regard, MP Ghanem told An-Nahar newspaper that he will hold talks in the upcoming week with House Speaker Nabih Berri, adding that in light of the said meeting he will specify the future work of the committee.
