Erdogan tells Putin he is “ready to take initiative” to end war in Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday that he was ready to "take the initiative" to end war in Ukraine. This happened a day after the two prisoners’ exchange between Washington and Moscow took place in Turkey.

During a phone call with Putin, Erdogan said he was "ready to take the initiative to end war between Russia and Ukraine, and mediate the path to peace,"  according to a statement of the president’s office.
Erdogan further expressed his desire to establish lasting peace in the region as quickly as possible, by increasing the momentum gained during the Istanbul talks.
