Siblings of Beirut Port blast victims announce their engagement
The Lebanese people are known for their resilience, rising like a phoenix despite all the harsh circumstances.

This time, the Lebanese were surprised by a wholesome love story, which started between William Noun, the brother of Beirut blast victim Joe Noun, and Maria Fares, sister of the deceased Sahar Fares, both killed on August 4, 2020, for attempting to extinguish the fire in Hangar 12 of the Port of Beirut.

Despite the grief, sadness, ongoing fight, and struggle to bring justice to their siblings’ souls, Noun and Fares found love “over the rubbles of the explosion.” They announced their engagements in a lovely ceremony surrounded by friends and family.
