Bou Habib honors 6 Lebanese expatriates in Washington, USA

At the end of his visit to the United States, Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Abdallah Bou Habib honored 6 Lebanese expatriates with the "Expatriate Medal" in recognition of their outstanding work in medicine, economics and astronomy.

Bou Habib hailed the "creative Lebanese capabilities that have always formed the main pillars of Lebanon's steadfastness," stressing that the participation of a quarter of a million Lebanese expatriates around the world in the 2022 parliamentary elections "contributed to the election of new faces in the Lebanese parliament."

He also praised the honorees' achievements, who left a distinct mark in their respective fields. In turn, the honorees expressed a sense of pride in receiving the medal, dedicating it to the rise of Lebanon.

The honorees are: Emmy and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub; Saleh Nsouli, who held senior positions at the International Monetary Fund; Dr. Amin Barakat, a nephrologist who discovered a new disease in his specialty; George Helou, a NASA expert who has led advances in infrared astronomy; Dr. Anthony Atala, a surgeon, and biological engineer; and Elias James Corey (Khoury), winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1990.
