Gulf council says Arab summit on Syria "not worthwhile"

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) said an emergency Arab summit sought by Syria was "not worthwhile", al-Arabiya television reported on Tuesday.

Syria on Monday called for an emergency summit in an apparent effort to forestall its suspension by the Arab League over its violent crackdown on protesters.
