Japanese PM to visit Middle East region to promote nuclear technology

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is due to pay a visit to the middle East region on Saturday in a bid to promote nuclear technology exports.

The six-day trip will include Bahrain, Kuwait, Djibouti and Qatar.

Japan has continued to push its atomic expertise as an important export, despite the catastrophe that took place in 2011 at the tsunami-hit Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, where multiple meltdowns cast radiations northeast of the country.

Abe visited Turkey last May as part of a wider Middle Eastern tour, inking a deal to build a nuclear power plant on Turkey's Black Sea coast.

The agreement came a day after Japan signed a nuclear cooperation deal with the United Arab Emirates.
